Help, hope and understanding for hair loss

Tue, 10/31/2017 - 15:02 -- Mary Lou Parizeau
Candace Hamilton, manager of Continental Hair

Loss of hair in a woman can take an emotional toll affecting self-esteem and often her overall quality of life. Candace Hamilton has experienced this first hand due to hair loss from hypothyroidism. Until she met Michael Suba, President of Continental Hair, she spent many frustrating years searching for a wig that fit properly.

Continental Hair Ltd. Toronto operates two locations, one on Avenue Road and the other at Sunnybrook Hospital on Bayview Avenue. Established in 1964, Continental Hair is respected by clients and healthcare providers and has been retailing the finest quality custom and ready- made synthetic and human hair wigs for more than fifty years.  Now a wearer of a “beautiful, natural looking, Continental wig,” Hamilton, a former hair stylist and a graduate in marketing and advertising, presented a  plan to Suba outlining the need for  Continental Hair’s products and services in Southwestern Ontario.  Hamilton manages the new Sarnia location at 640 Cathcart Boulevard and held a Grand Opening on October 12.

Women experiencing hair loss due to any medical concern are invited to call Hamilton at 519-337-3699 to set up a consultation. Consultations are private, safe and friendly.

Wigs are available to suit any budget. Synthetic hair, virgin European human hair, processed human hair, and Postiche are sold.  70-80% of Hamilton’s business is the Postiche. It is a hair replacement method designed for women who are experiencing light to moderate hair thinning and is matched to existing hair.  A mould is taken of the client’s head and will be a perfect fit.  10 weeks is needed for a Postiche to be made because each hair is hand tied.  It is secure, versatile and clips on in seconds. When a client returns for fitting, the postiche is cut and styled.  4-5 weeks later, clients return for teaching in the care of the hair. Other services a client may wish to book include washing, styling, cutting and colouring.

Hamilton feels passionate about Continental Hair and is dedicated to providing” service and unmatched products” to women experiencing hair loss. The salon is comfortable and welcoming.

Continental Hair has posted many learning videos on YouTube on topics such as postiche, wigs and thinning hair. Both Continental Hair and Continental Hair Sarnia Salon are on Facebook. Visit www.continentalhair.com
